If you’ve ever grown Anthuriums, you know how strikingly beautiful they are.
Known for their heart-shaped, glossy leaves and vibrant flowers, these plants are often found in homes and offices as a decorative touch.
But if you want to take your Anthurium care to the next level, encouraging bigger, more vibrant blooms and stronger roots, you’ve come to the right place.
Today, I’ll share a simple yet powerful tip I use to make my Anthuriums bloom like crazy and grow lush, healthy roots.
My secret is a homemade mixture made from cucumber, water, and baking soda!
Why Cucumber and Baking Soda?
You might be wondering, “Why cucumbers and baking soda?” Let me break it down for you.
Cucumbers:
These hydrating veggies are packed with nutrients like potassium, magnesium, and silica.
Silica is known for strengthening plant cells, helping your Anthurium’s stems and roots grow strong.
Cucumbers also have a high water content, which helps to increase moisture retention in the soil, making them perfect for helping your plant thrive in dry indoor environments.
Baking Soda:
A commonly used item in the kitchen, baking soda works wonders for plants!
It helps to balance the pH levels of your soil, preventing it from becoming too acidic, which can stress your plants.
It also has antifungal properties that can help protect your Anthuriums from harmful pathogens and pests.
Together, these ingredients create a natural solution that will nourish your plant, encourage blooming, and improve root development.
What You’ll Need:
100 grams of cucumber (cut into smaller pieces)
0.5 liters of water
Blender
1 tablespoon of baking soda
2 liters of water (to dilute the mixture)
How to Make the Mixture:

How to Use This Mixture for Your Anthuriums
Now that you’ve made your mixture, it’s time to use it! There are three main ways I use this cucumber and baking soda solution to care for my Anthuriums.
1. Watering Your Anthuriums

Watering with this mixture helps deliver nutrients directly to the roots, promoting strong growth and healthier plants.
I water my Anthuriums with this mixture every two weeks. Be sure to water the soil thoroughly, allowing the roots to absorb the nutrients.
You can use this solution instead of your regular watering routine for that week. continues on the next page.
