A garden can be a true joy, but its upkeep can also present some challenges, especially when it comes to weeds. If you’re looking for a natural and inexpensive way to combat weeds, you may have heard of using baking soda. Here’s how to use this method and what you should keep in mind.

Baking soda as a natural weed control

Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, is a versatile household product. It is often used for various purposes around the house, from cooking to cleaning. Baking soda is also touted in gardening as a natural weed control method. This method is simple and inexpensive, making it an attractive option for amateur gardeners.

Using baking soda for weed control

  1. Preparation:  Dissolve a few teaspoons of baking soda in one liter of hot water. Stir well to ensure the baking soda dissolves completely.
  2. Application:  Pour or spray the solution directly onto the weeds you wish to remove. Take care to apply the solution only to the weeds to avoid damaging neighboring plants.
