8 Tips for Dealing with Rude People

articleUseronApril 29, 2026

Staying calm is a form of power. A calm voice, a neutral tone, and a confident gaze are often enough to calm a tense situation.

The more stable you are, the less power the other person has over you. And above all, you stay true to your values.

Distinguish between the person and their behavior.

A person can act rude without being rude all the time. Fatigue, stress, mental overload… everyone has bad days sometimes.

If this behavior is sporadic, try not to take it personally. However, if it is repeated, the situation deserves to be handled differently (we will come back to this later).

Try to understand what they are going through.
Without excusing the rudeness, a little empathy can change your perspective. Maybe this person is going through a difficult time.

You don’t have to accept everything, but understanding sometimes allows you to react with more emotional distance… and less anger.
